for Chip, please answer his question
And expanding on my original question, how about cover for 2 cossies + a Saab 9-5 ? Two drivers (mrs & I).
Can you do something ? At the end of the day, only two of the three cars will be on the road at any one time, so surely that's worth some discount

At present we do not offer agreed value. If that should change, we will be sure to let you all know.

It would probably best to call us and discuss this over the phone, that way we can get a better idea of your requirements and look at the options abailable.

Hi Marco,
Just saw your PM and the list of mods (only kidding, the more the merrier on the mods front as far as were concerned buddy).
You were getting some stick about your postcode from your buddies on here, but you'll be pleased to know that with our revised schemes we are now able to cover the following area's that were previously excluded:
Most of Birmingham
Most of Bradford
Most of Leeds
Most of London (inc East)
Most of Sheffield
Newcastle upon tyne
Middlesboro
Sunderland
Teeside
Nottingham
Blackburn
Preston
Wigan
Bolton
Blackpool
Most of Luton
Most of Cardiff
The approach that we are taking is that if youve lived in a previously excluded area for a while, there's every chance that you have driven through the area & located the vehicle in the area all that time.
If there's been no vandalism, theft or fault incident whilst youve lived there we should be able to help anyone in one of the above areas.
With your own quotation in mind I'll look into it this as soon as im back in the office.
So, looks like you may have the last laugh buddy. You get 'electricity' and a decent insurance deal .
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Tony.
My cossie is currently insured through HIC who also did a deal for PF members. It's up for renewal in August, so will give you a call nearer the time. However, I have changed cars now and am building all of the Sierra Cosworth 2wd engine and running gear into a Sierra Estate. That is a modified car! Do you foresee any problems in insuring such a thing?
Another question. I have a friend with a German driving license (over 10 years) that i want to add as a named driver. Is that possible with Greenlight?
Thanks for your attention.

Hi there,
There is no problem whatsoever covering the modification that you intend, we have covered vehicles originally built from a shell and cover vehicles such as Gartrac, Rs200 conversions/replicas, nitrous oxide converted vehicles...
We also cover rally cars that are intended for motorsport use.
So, the modifications you mention are no problem .
With regard to your european friend, providing they have a full German license (eu license) we should be able to cover them.
The main problem that we invisage is that from your details on here you do not reside in the UK. Plus, your recent Nurburg ring incident (assuming it was an RTA) probably wont help either
We'll try our best though.

Graham,
We are usually better for performance & modded vehicles, but one of our underwriters is bending over backwards to pick up commercial vehicle business - so I'll give them a go for you.
The whole "3 cars with 2 drivers" scenario does attract underwriters and we'll certainly get some flexibility/rate reductions.
With the limited mileage situation, this will make a big difference to the Cossie premium too.
Probably best to call rather than use the net as the multi-vehicle quotes are more of a bespoke arrangement.
Sounds like you have the perfect combo - Van, 4x4 and Cossie - excellent work!
Kindest regards

Thanks for the reply Tony.
I am resident in the UK, and my car is registered there too, although I spend some time every week working in germany. From September, this will all change, and I will be permanently in the UK, but i will still want to drive in continental europe, and i would like my friend to also be insured to drive when i visit him in germany.
the incident on the 'ring involved my car, but i wasn't driving. besides that, no claim has or will be placed relating to it, so i fail to see how it should make a difference. the car jst hit the barrier, no other vehicle was involved, neither were the police. as far as i am aware, insurance is not valid on the 'ring anyway, although if you are saying otherwise i would be pleased to hear it.
and yes, my friend does have a full eu license since ten years.
Again, thanks for the reply, and I will be calling and speaking to Neil soon

would you care to comment on mine and radman's situation please? Is our circumstance particularly suited to the Dominion scheme compared to yours do you think? Or is there some anomaly in the 'net quote system that may have generated us an adverse quote?

Mr Manc
What you got to understand is , for US with heavly modded cars there's not many insurance companies will touch our cars as soon as you give them the list of what modds you have done to it , + the post code they don't want to know
The Likes of your car anyone will insure it cheaply untill you declare your mods, btw your car is an euro import belive it or not .
Not many will even look at a cossie never mind a modded one and if you don't belive me buy a cossie and find out for yourself
When i use to get quotes for my car the first thing i ask them do you insure Cosworths and most say NO sorry we don't
Marco

Mr Manchester,
Ordinarily we do not seek to cover non-performance standard vehicles and wouldnt provide a rate for these.
But with your being a passion ford member we were probably trying to give you a rate to help you out, and i'm sorry that our rate wasnt what you were looking for.
The problem is our underwriters are totally geared up for performance vehicles and are not usually competitive for base models .
With regard to your budget quote, I dont think that Budget will offer cover for a modded car. First thing to do would be to come clean and check with them.
Doing this to budget on the mods front could leave you in major hot water. In short you have to disclose those mods buddy, if you dont & youre found out they will put you on a database that in laymans terms says youve been refused insurance and lied to an insurer to obtain cover.. then try and get cover after that
Believe me when I say its not worth it, youre better off shopping around the mods specialists that cover Manchester..
Kind regards
Tony

We thought it made much better sense than excluding what Insurers consider to be high risk area's

Sorry we have not come back to you, we had a problem where we could not access Passion Ford for awhile. Most of yesterday and even from home it did not work. I spoke to BT about it and they could net get to it either.
It is all ok now though, but it did not start working till quite late in the day so Tony was rushing to try and answer as many questions as possible.
With regards to your question, it is not an error with the quote system. That is the best rate we have and are unable to go any lower. The quote you have had is very good and we could not match or better it I am afraid.
Thank you for trying us and sorry we could not help.

Sorry for my late response guys, I didnt have access to passion ford for most of yesterday. A problem with our BT business broadband, but they sorted it in the end!
Once we had access I logged on and answered 4 questions on the bounce.. until Barry (our I.T. guru) stopped me and said that listing loads of posts from the same person in a row on a forum was not a good idea and some forum's ban for it something to do with forum ettiquete.
So.. to all at Passion Ford I apologise for this
With regard to your particular circumstances guys, I think that the minimum premiums set by our underwriters is leading to the problem that you're experiencing.
For example, your premium could work out to be Ł400 but some underwriters impose a minimum rate that they will allow for certain types of vehicle and that may be say Ł600. So we would be unable to go below that figure.
Now, as I mentioned before we piloted a scheme with you last year and gathered enough information to get a better scheme and identify where we could improve things.
The postcodes were one aspect that was highlighted, we listened and improved this.
Minimum premiums were not previously identified as a problem, but this scheme is meant for everyone and I will check this out for you and other experienced/mature drivers with a view to reducing the minimum premiums charged for us 'Silver foxes'.
I will post on monday and PM you both once i've spoken to the respective underwriters , but on the face of it i'm pretty sure that it is minimum premiums that has caused this.
Once again I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, along with my lack of forum ettiquette .
In the meantime, have a good weekend guys and I'll catch you monday!
Kindest regards
Tony

I just got my quote emailed. As I posted earlier in the topic, the online form doesn't ask what modifications have been carried out, just what the BHP is.
My quote is 1/4 extra on top of the best quote I have so far: the same people who have continuosly been the best quoters for a number of years. I'll not say who & start another topic on the thread, but it is one of the other major companies who know what they are with regarding modified cars. Cheers anyway Tony.

Hi Shaun,
Thanks for trying us, we will get there buddy - this is the first week of publishing our scheme and although we have improved what we piloted last year, developing our rating structure is important and its people like you that will help us do this as we go.
The key to better rates is profitability and to keep a scheme going long term its all about drawing a balance, providing a profit to the respective underwriter will give flexibility and mean we can adapt the scheme where we need to.
We hope in time (with the Passionford Members help) to develop a product with a decent level of cover and relevant benefits at a price that suits ALL, not just some of the passion ford members.
Thanks once again for your comments, I am reviewing our premium structure in relation to minimum premiums and will feedback improvements as I go.
Kindest regards
Tony

ok, my renewal is up, and you just quoted me the same as my renewal price (50quid cheaper than it cost me last year ) but with fully comp instead of TPFT
now, if you can go down on price a bit (i disagree with paying the same ammount of money every year for insurance even tho im older, wiser, and have more NCB!) and give me drive any car (so i can borrow a car when mine's in fopr repair etc and not have to faff about getting the car insured seperately like i have to at the moment! then you havea sale
i'll be on the phone to you guys later thismorning

no damo, theyve quoted me 1050 -> 950 renewal still FC
greenlight quoted me 1000 FC 10 months ago (when id only just taken out my insurance with greenlight n too late to cancel)
ok, unfortunately tony greenlight dont seem to be the best for me this time round which is a shame as i'd been wanting to swap to you guys for the past 10 months
my current insurers will do me the same policy for 100quid less than you, same benefits etc. etc.
the one thing that i thought might really swing it was "drive any cars..." as i'm sick n tired of having to get 1 week insurance policies whenever i borrow a car (mine being in the garage) but neither you nor my insurers will do it as for buying a dedicated runabout, your 2nd car quote again would not be competetive (infact, MORE than my saph )
i was really looking forward to renewal time aswell

ok, unfortunately tony greenlight dont seem to be the best for me this time round which is a shame as i'd been wanting to swap to you guys for the past 10 months
my current insurers will do me the same policy for 100quid less than you, same benefits etc. etc.
the one thing that i thought might really swing it was "drive any cars..." as i'm sick n tired of having to get 1 week insurance policies whenever i borrow a car (mine being in the garage) but neither you nor my insurers will do it as for buying a dedicated runabout, your 2nd car quote again would not be competetive (infact, MORE than my saph )
i was really looking forward to renewal time aswell

Hi Jim,
Just seen your post and checked out your quote details. I'm afraid that Ł1050 is as low as we can co for you buddy.
You're 21 with a 200bhp 2.9 modded sierra, live just outside london. Ł1050 fully comprehensive with only a Ł300 excess seems like a decent rate to me.
Our overall benefits are good, we include a guaranteed courtesy car etc. but due to your age we cannot find a company that would give you driving other cars at a reasonable premium.
Ł950 for fully comp cover, with the car that you have is an excellent rate mate, i'd check to ensure that your insurer is "fully" aware of all mods, that they are not imposing a massive excess (ie. young driver in addition to other excesses) and get them to confirm this in writing.
Also, make sure its a 12 month policy and not a 10 month 'accelerator'. If its 12mths & they're aware of all mods that is a very cheap rate .
We're managing to cover a number of Passion Ford members, but sorry we couldnt help you this time
Tony

would you care to comment on mine and radman's situation please? Is our circumstance particularly suited to the Dominion scheme compared to yours do you think? Or is there some anomaly in the 'net quote system that may have generated us an adverse quote?
Regards
Rich
Rad/Rich,
Just to let you know that i've spoken to the underwriters in question and they have reduced their minimum premiums for mature drivers on Cosworth models.
They have also introduced and experience discount to reflect the length of time that you have owned a car without a claim, so this should improve quotes given for mature drivers and people that have owned their vehicle for a year or more.
Kind regards
Tony

I've updated your quotation and have e-mailed the improved quotation to you just now.
The rate is considerably better and I have managed to agree protected bonus in with the new quote.
There is a track cover option under the policy and all mods are covered on a like for like replacement basis.
I hope this is ok for you as it'd be good to get you on board and to arrange cover for you. Especially considering you were one of the PF members that highlighted and led to the improving of the scheme for mature/experienced drivers.
Kindest regards
Tony
