Group N front diff.
Would you be able to tell the difference between one of these to a standard 4x4 front diff just by looking at it, Or are all the good bit's on the inside? Also what are the diference's between them?

Group N is standard as far as I am aware...
The normal upgrades for a front Diff are the Quaife 'thick wall' casing and an ATB diff. Here are mine if it helps you....
Take some piccys of the items. Someone on here will help you

Dean, actually a good and cheap "half way" measure is to get the standard diff plated.
I once launched my old Saph, it went well up to about 50 MPH and then there was a loud knocking noise. The front diff casing had cracked in half!!!
Sent the unit to Steve Scott (A1 Rally Sport)....He then supplied me with another diff (standard internals) but a plated version - i.e. a specially made stainless steel plate that both halves of the casing bolts through (about 6 to 8 mm thick). This is a good low cost way to strengten the standard front diff.............About Ł 60.00 for the s/steel plate IIRC.

Yeah but porkie you are forgetting he did that in the car park - not on the 1/4 - typical ned behaviour ROFLOL
Kev - thought your car was off the road and being transfered into another shell - then i hear stories of some "small turbo" model running round knockhill the other day nossed up to the nines!

OK..........You still keep the bottom plate/cover but you then ADD a stainless steel flange piece where the two join together, and then bolt the three pieces together very tight. It works because the original soft alloy casing would otherwise start to crack at the weakest point - the edge near the bolt holes. The s/steel plate prevents this from happening.
