Cossymad..i dont agree with "If you set a car up to run at say 34psi, when it's components are only good for 28, it will expire quite quickly."

A std cossie engine should reliably able to handle 500bhp/400ft lb assuming you lo comp it/port etc...but no upgrades needed...imo....This engine designed to do 518 bhp knowing incar thats around 480bhp.

Dan,
I don't do that any more - learned my lesson with our fall-outs .

Standard rods are good for 34psi, 8k rpm limits and at least 40k miles and lots of this kind of abuse:

Anyone that says they're not is LYING .

Anyone dissing Nick Waples work is doo-lally, this is why he has been able to move to Spain (he did the heads for a now defunct F1 team), and he was the one that Mountune used to do the Ford works teams heads when they were running the rally cars.

I am confused as to if the head is so crap and the cams so unsuitable, why the head is being re-used and what cams ARE going to be put in?

By the way, I forgot to add that when Spadge specced his 500 engine, he asked for it to be have drivability over out-right power, hence the choice of cams. I know this, because Spadge asked my advice before settling on this spec .

Anyone who knows anything would have known right from the start that these would not be suitable for anymore than the power they made on the dyno, as that is what the conversion was designed for - just about 500bhp with better flexibility than normal T4 cars.

So to bolt on a GT35 to an engine that was designed to make "just" 500bhp with a T4, without changing stuff in the first place, was a bit stupid if you ask me .

Right,
Jules not blamming you for the engine letting go in anyway my issues is with spec which was relayed to Paul based on what i was told, put yourself in my shoes for a moment your buy a 515bhp, get it RR'd only the find out you are getting a totally different figure, you have other issue with workmanship and other bits, to make a decision to spare no expense in getting these problem fixed because said tuner is really interested, only to find out somewhere down the line the spec of the engine isn't the same as you had orginally been told, my point is you are still stating the rods were shotpeened and i've have a report stating otherwise, i've moved on m8
Dan Paul's not putting blame on anyone, I AM, I've had a full report carried out on the engine

Fair enough mate but like i said from the off when you 1st contacted me asking me if i had bills etc...speak to Harvey as he knows whats inside it better than i do! I said this because when it comes to techie engine stuff i was a novice back then and thought you would get hard facts rather than bullshit speaking to the man himself

I have learnt a lot in the last 12 months or so Philip!
So much so that i do most things myself nowadays as i feel it is the only way to know exactly what you are getting
I have numerous experiences with many of the well known tuners and to be honest havn't seen anything so difficult that i can't do it myself
