timing chain question

Default timing chain question

I have been told my mondeo st24 has a timing chain, it has fsh and only 56k on the clock, do i need to get this changed or summit? i have never had a car with a timing chain before

i thought they had belts on the mondy v6's?

i *think* they had both.. Very early ones were Mazda engines with a belt whilst the rest were chain. I think!

It has chains and there is no time scale to replace them, only when they get noisey..... Result for you eh Gra.....

cool chers steve, but i bet i can break it

will be popping in to SCC soon to book it in for the water pump thing, so will get it checked anyways me thinks

I dont know specifics on yours. If its a DUPLEX chain it will be fine for (est) 200K Singles are more prone to hooking though. As above if its getting noisy tensioners probably wearing. Change that ans the guide will 90% of the time be fine.

I've done chains on an ST220 which is very similar. If you do change the chains, make sure you change the tensioners and the rollers!
