Default 16v Zetec conversions running carb and dizzy,

THinking of putting the 2.0 Zetec into my XR2 (I just sooo needs more power.)

But wanna keep it on carbs. But as the Zetec runs on a coil pack where does the dizzy go? I haven't taken the coil pack off yet, but will the dizzy fit in its place

its been done before, you can modify the head and cam to run a RST dizzy, not the easiest or nicest looking option but certainly one of the cheapest.

personally if your not doing anything special with it i would run it on standard zetec injection and management, why bother with the hassle of carbs and a distrubutor for the increase of about 5-10 bhp?

really not worth the hassle IMO.

2.0 Zetec in a xr2 would be plenty.

I have seen it done too, the bloke had machined a cutout in the cam cover and was driving the dizzy off one of the cams, lots of hassle, must be easyer to unpick all the wiring loom and use the standard management.

Just use a seperate ignition only ECU and use the coilpack still.

Better still, stick it on throttle bodies and use one ecu for fuelling and ignition.

yeah to run on a dizzy wouldnt be worth the hassle tbh, also the carb would need to be bigger as the xr2 carbs on the later cars are not that good, ya need a carb off a a to c reg motor ideally

just move the managemnt over as ryan said, alot less hassle and no need to tune up ect, just fit 5 wires and drop all in,,,,,, well mod the engine mouint and zorst obv and ya done

btw ya still gonna need to fit a external fuel pump and the cvh carb fuel pump runs off the cam in the head and the zetec dont have that either

so ya gonna need to fit a electric pump to it meaning wiring
