qualifications needed for rolling road operation?
always wonderd this not talking top tuner knoledge just the basics needed to run up an everyday motor and set it up surely this is easier as thiers a known std for everyday cars i live in a big city and the only rr here has a dial that stops at 200 bhp he shat a brick when mine climbed out its what got me thinking ive looked into cost 100k was a figure mentioned as a buisness put to a bank manager its worth the investment as thier isnt 1 here so would be exclusive to the city wich is only good? so was thinking really were would you get the qualifications and what they are and how long theyd take to gain?

Get yourself a set of det cans and a wideband and get stuck in mate.
If you can manage to map a few cars on the road like that, then running a set of rollers should be easy, the rollers themselves are just a tool at the end of the day, its knowing how to get the best from an engine that matters.
Sadly though, it really does take experience to be any good at, some things you cant really teach very well.

Just remember the downside too.
idiots bringing you cars with the fundamental hardware wrong and all manner of faults with it etc and then getting arsey when you either turn them away or charge them a load of money just to tell them they have the wrong plugs or whatever and they have to change them and come back.

I have to agree with the 'experience' side of things...
I'm studying Motorsport & Performance Engineering at the National College for Motorsport, but 2 days a week i'm "ill" and actually go down to Power Engineering, Uxbridge on a Friday and a company called ADR Engineering on a Wednesday.
ADR build hayabusa engined race cars, and PE's reputation should be well known on here... I don't get paid for either and it costs me Ł20 in petrol a week, but in my opinion its more than worth it!
I've learnt SO much just from being around the environment, i can sit and talk about nitrous, turbos, superchargers, engine internals etc. until the cows come home now, and when i started down there they might as well have been speaking russian!
I believe there are some courses out there in diagnostics which you might want to look at for when people come in and say 'its not right'... Also i believe you have to get qualified by the manufacturer to fit and map some management systems, OMEX for example i know you do!
Just don't go for the 'map it and see' approach that was mentioned earlier...
Although it'd be funny to go and tell the young lad you want 30 degrees across the top line of your ignition map if you fancy a new set of pistons
