was out in my car last nite was running spot on then i put my toe down in 3rd came on full boost and then an almighty pop which i thought was a boost pipe blowing off pulled over car only running on 3 cylinders no pipe off so crawled home. had a look today everything seems fine compression is slightyl down on the clyinder thats missing but only by 20 psi oil pressure is fine no smoke at all so could i off bent a valve? or anyone have any other ideas to what i have broke.

sounds like something had melted but this usually happens in higher gears?

 

check your plugs - number 3 or 4 will possibly have melted off

 

just took rocker box off and the exhaust cam has snapped clean in half the cam cap bolts had come loose.

 

would like to see a picture of this please

did it make a rattle nose coming down the revs as mines doing that and comming from the zorst cam

there was no rattling mate just came on full boost in 3rd and an almighty bang u can see where cam has hit inside of rocker cover lol hopefully hasnt bent any valves good job ive got sum bd10s coming lol

 

ginge,that didnt kill it,the bottom pulley did! that cam snapping happened EXACTLY the same,although mine had bd16s not 10s in it,never happened again in the following 5000 miles i had the car!

your luck with that engine was soo bad

bd16 cams , pm me the spec as i may copy it as i want a decent engine , i know that engine done well at top speed

me mate brought a proper compression tester cos the 1 i have is fooked and was down 10psi to the other 3.

 

it sounds like its nipped the valves and the aint flly shutting

 

so will it be worth waiting for cams to come and try or just take head off and get it checked?

Personally i'd get the head off. Have got some used valves here,bargain.

 

mine did exactly the same in more or less same place. i just put another cam in and it was spot on i wouldnt take the head off just replace the cam.

 

plug up the the zorst port and attempt to preasurise the cylinder and see if hear air come out

its obvioiusly not much if its 10psi tbh, when theres more worry

when i fooked me gearbox in me cabrio i turned the ignition off, let it cool down and then tried to start it again hoping the earbox would work again, never happened


so i then phoned up loads of different mechanics for quotes and explained the issue and all of em said i need a new gearbox except MR Clutch who said the clutch was fooked

so being the tight idiot i am i took me car there toget a new clutch, they fitted one and reskimed the flywheel and then told me the gearbox is also fooked

anyway i refused to pay as they couldnt show me my biusted clutch as they binned it and got it towed to a place that swoped the gearbox, loom, engine ect for the one on me fooked erst and 7 days later i got banned for speeding


theres no moral there but as ua feeling shite i thought i would give ya a laugh
