I was travelling along the M8 last night going to work, the road was damp and its not got the best lighting on it, i see a white transit a wee bit in front of me and a car swerving behind it, i braked a bit and then to my amazment what is directly in front of my view.

A FUCKIN BIG COW

Standing between the 2 lanes, i jumped on the brakes, turned to the left and prayed, i must have missed it with 6".

I dont want to think what would have happened if i had hit it, the thing was huge, its not the thing you see every night on the M8

Back in 1984(yes i know i am old)....My mate Pete hit a cow in his Mk2 rs2000 and totally destroyed it,if it wasn`t for the fact it had a cage and harnesses he`d have been dead......

He said it was like hitting a wall,luckily he escaped with a broken wrist,2 fingers and cuts to the face........The cow wasn`t so lucky....

similar thing happened to me a good few years ago going to ford fair in my old orion ghia, came over the brow of a local hill, 2 cows walking up the middle of the road, stamped on the brakes, the windows of the car were open and the car filled with tyre smoke, nothing like the smell of burning rubber to wake u up in the morning. when the smoke cleared the cow was about a meter away from the bumper. went to fill the car up with petrol and the pump did'nt click off, covered my legs in petrol. on the way home on the A40 car pull out of a side road, stand on the brakes again flashing the lights and hand on the horn, go to accelerate away and there is a coke bottle under the pedal, good job it was'nt under the brake pedal, we had a day of near misses.
