Default Which Engined Capri for a cossie conversion?

Thinking about buying a bit of old skool capri RWD action with the idea of doing a 4x4 cossie conversion on it.

But dunno which one would be ideal for the conversion.

I know the MkIII Laser is the better bodyshell. But which engine should I go for to make the conversion as easy as poss.

Where did you think I got the inspiration from in the first place about two three years ago.

I think I might actually go for a 1.6 MkIII laser, that had a pinto in it didn't it?

Waste of time and money going 4x4 with a Capri unless you can do it yourself - buy a 4x4 Saff instead.

On the other hand, Rwd Cossie'ing a 2.8i / 2.8i Special makes PERFECT sense. Sooo easy, and cheap, and effective.

Is your favourite song Dream Dream Dream by The Everly Brothers?

Seriously, your thinking of starting another expensive project before youve even began that other expensive project.

Its time to live in the real world.

Lot better things to spend cash on than jus motas anyhow, and with your plans youl have every penny you make tied up for the next 20 years

here we go, bring on the bitching, it was an honest fucking question

This is perhaps what annoys me most about this site, you ask a serious tech question and you get 30% decent answers that actually tell you something and then 70% of answers are just to take the fucking piss.

Since when was it a crime just to ASK about something

Anyway, RWD Cossie is cool enough. But why would doing it to a 2.8i be better than the pinto engined ones?

As far as doing the project its just an idea, and capris are going for silly money now (2.8i on ebay the other day for £400, 1.6 for £200) + the cost of the conversion probably still looking at half the cost or a real cossie.

Its a much more viable alternative to a late escort or 200SX.

Stu, cos the Pinto engined ones have a shit axle, diff, brakes etc. A Cossie lump will pretty much go straight into a 2.8i - standard axle, standard prop, the lot.
It'd cost less and be a much nicer conversion in the long run using a 2.8.
