Default Should i let Mark Shead.....(serious question) STARTED AGAIN

....build my engine?...Getting to a stage now that i have spent so much money DIY could spell disaster ..As we all know it aint rocket science assembling but if something goes wrong with installation i can blame Mark

Please be aware he would be building it to my spec ..and will not be responsible if something fails unless its a build issue.

I am fully aware that in essence it will be a MAD engine BUT not a MAD spec although he said it would be good to test my method out

The only problem with me doin this is the issue of a DIY record....whats the most importane aspect of a build...the actual build or the specification???..If its the latter then its full DIY...I will read with interest the usual mixture of mainly crap reaction with the very odd sensible reply.

My answer still stands - if the spec's 'wrong' it'll end in tears or dissapointment, if you spec' it 'right' but you sling it together, the same will happen

Depends on how adament you are on proving you can build the engine to this spec...

If I was you and had the money i'd let mark do it then get out there and actually drive and enjoy it, instead of foooken talking about it all the time

Crapper ...it takes time to aquire all the bits for this kinda build...plus alot of changing specs...still aint 100% gonna use the gt35 but go a little bigger..if Rods/ranjs is dynoed before mine gets built then i may "up" the spec to that

Build it yourself, sounds like marks already helped you a bit with the hard bit.

Are you sure its wise to divulge your hard earned knowledge of speccing a high powered YB to someone as inexperienced as Mark Shead? Whats he ever done?

Phil does not have access to Marks cams or his exact head spec so Mark has deffo not specced this engine. Think he may have advised Phil on next best alternatives though.

Speccing an engine with off the shelf nearest alternative parts is hardly difficult, everyone on here can say "bd 14s, gt35, 8:1 cr, autronic" or something along those lines, then take it to an expert to map round the inadequecies in it, i dont really see what that is achieving to be honest, if you are trying to prove something.

I dont think it matters, i wouldnt look down on anyone for doing that, but uf thats all you are going to do then i dont see what all the fuss is about.

TBH i thought at the very least you had specced your own cam profiles etc, and then got the cams ground, i didnt realise you had just gone out and bought off the shelf ones!
