on a cvh look at the crank pulley, there is a notch cut out, that lines up with the 0 on the plastic cover behind it.

Well I would have thought there would still be a mark on the crank PULLEY (not pully)

also, as for the rockers, there should be a bit of play on both inet and exhaust cos both valves should be shut

well the bottom pully is a 1.8 sierra one with no marking as its been machined but im thinking about taking it off

also as the cams timed up dont that mean the crank timing has been played with

gareth, thats all well and good if the plugs are verticle on the engine, on the cvh they are angled, and if you do like me and the missus old man done on her clio, you snap needle files off in the bores

the crank should always be at tdc piston 1 when doing the timing mate

What Broms getting at is that knowing where (true) TDC is. Is only one stage of the complete operation. You still need to set the vernier so that the valves are fully open at the specific angle as set by the cam manufacturer.

Without being too nasty. If you havent got a clue. (and to be honest it sounds like you havent) Then get someone who does, to run you through it.

hey ive got a clue what TDC is, the engines been timed up perfectly as that was what i payed for, the part im gonna be fitting is the cps wheel that needs the tdc to be perfect and as theres no marking im asking how to find it, getting TDC whe the heads off is soooooo easy and timing a cam is easy as ya get the timing on the cam for it

i wanna know what tdc is when its all together, i can do it on a cossie engine as gareth said

now paying someone requires removing the engine so i gotta hire a crane, get a vehicle to stick it in so i gotta hire a van, then i take it to a place that knows what there doing like i dod to time the cam as it was ment to be soooo hard and then get told 2 weeks max and then wait 2 months for it and the estimate of 80 quid ends up being 230 quid plus vat as the deck of the block required cleaning

as for fitting a cps wheel on a bottom pully with no marks on either how to i find that is what i really wanna know
