Default welded diffs??

Oops . I broke my 2wd cossie diff yesterday finishing off a set of tyres, ,so I am`toying with the idea of slinging a welded diff in to piss about with, will it make the car handle like a bag of crap or will it be good fun?? oh, and I know tyre durability will be reduced lots

hey im not gonna replace the Quaife for a welded diff as from what ive heard they make ya go sideways toooooo easy compared to a normal diff, i like the diff that helps avoid it personally

just fancy learning somink and understand what people are going on about

my mates big into his drifting, and he recons it will be ok, , I might have to give it a go just for a laugh, got a diff for Ł30 to play with

Chip, why will it kill joints fast? I assume its because they will get twisted loads when the inside wheel drags in tight corners?

what's the best option for a decent diff when I get some cash together?? the 2 I know of under 1k are gripper, quaife atb and I heard bernie is making a kit, but how much is it and whens it ready?

Bernie's diff will be the one to go for.

I've heard lots about the development, and it's quite a clever idea!

Used to have a lancia HF Integrale in wich you could lock the diffs electronicly...being Italian and therefor having CRAP electronics once switched on it would switch off anymore....trying to park the car became rather...interesting...

Remember something back from college about diff locks on an army truck, bloke reckoned someone drove the truck home with the diff locks on and it had twisted the half shafts!

Used a locked diff in mine for a short while and was fun for a bit then was just
plain annoying done my rear drive shaft's in and rear beam bushes

worth while having if your into 1/4 mile's for the sake of how long it take's to
change them over and not breaking another diff

If you do weld one up as graceland said weld the planet gears to were they sit
on ( i welded right across as well so were the two flanges almost touch the rod
that the planet gear's sit was just one mass of weld and you could not see through
any more) but also put a couple of plate's on so it is smooth and dont flick
oil through the breather like mine first did!!!

I had a welded diff for my Sapphire that I used to fit for drag racing (as I got fed up with breaking 6 diffs in 18 months ). It was awesome for drifting, and providing you did parking on grass / gravel (at Santa Pod) was fine. On the road, the back end would "hop" on tight corners and it would make the front push on. Only ever raced it once, as I then got a Quaife.
