Computer people..what kinda stupid virus shit have i got?
Turn on computer today (windows XP) click on my account, it opens....then computer automatically restarts?! Keeps doing it on mine but seems ok using my mums account, except when you go to my computer, and it lists other users documents etc... it no longer shows mine?!!!!
WTF is that about and how do i stop it?!

microsoft have now started to delete the MBR on computers they find with an invaild serial number the data on the disk stays intact however the computer will never boot up.. i should know ive had it happen to 4 computers!

it actually happens when you download the updates! if your cd key is in there list of illegal keys then they will send a file which will delete your Master Boot Record.
(MBR)
Best way round it is not to download updates apart from service packs. and when you download them get em off a mate or from a bittorrent site..
OR you can jst change the CD key to a propper random one..

P.s as far as i know this at the moment wont effect the older copys of windows that were about (ie before SP1 )

Iam pretty sure mine aint a copied one and also even if it was wouldnt explain why only certain accounts can open/operate normally?

MBR - Is Master Boot record.
Doubt the above is this as usually with a naff MBR the XP logon screen just loops or restarts or after post u will just get the flashing curser on tope left of a black screnn.

Ok found i can use my account if as soon as i open it i open my documents or similar. Then my Zone Alarm thingy shit flashes up MSN is trying to access internet, but doesnt matter if you allow or deny it it closes the computer down the second you press it?!
