Default Why am i getting abusive e/mails

Hi
I have recieved abusive e/mails from a user on here saying i have sent him a e/mail that has a virus
I have never tried to sent this person an e/mail , as most of you know i am completly crap with computers and couldnt send a dodgy e/mail knowingly if my life depended on it

How has this happened ???

Paul

you could have had a virus on your machine which scans your tempory internet files for e-mail address's from when you've browsed on here and sends on the virus to them without you knowing.

Some virus's can send themselves to every contact in your outlook address book....doesn't sound like it's your fault but you should get a decent virus checker and kill it!

Well it would have been ok if you asked me rather than send me abuse

I have no idea how it got sent to you and as people have stated above it may have been sent without me knowing ( rather it has been sent without me knowing )

If you look at what the e/mail says i would have thought it was quite clear i never sent it deliberatly if i wanted to send you dodgy mail i would have put summat about cossies and then i think you would have defo opened it

Dave, obviously paul wasn't aware he had a virus and infact that email could have come from ANYBODYS machine who has a virus AND yours and pauls email addys in thier email list.

looks to me like someones machine is infected and is spoofing peoples email addresses, I have had a few lateley from names i recognise on PassionFord but i dont actually know them.

Easiest thing to do is NOT OPEN EMAILS FROM PEOPLE YOU DONT KNOW especially if they have an attatchment with them, which is common sense really.

hope this helps.

oh and run a virus check peeps as it could be anybodys computer that these are coming from

YUM 360
Get over it and put your dummy back in!
This sort of shit happens on the internet all the time hence the need for virus detectors and firewalls! Paul wouldn't have knowingly sent you anything like that so any abuse was unfounded and out of order imo

I very much doubt the virus even came from paul in the 1st place.

Someone who has both pauls and daves email addy's in their address book has a virus. The virus generally picks 2 random addresses from the address book to send to and from

Sorry Paul but think you need someone to have a look at your machine

if Paul doesn't have your email address in his list like he says, it's obviously nothing to do with Pauls machine at all.

its somebody elses as ive had virus mails from Mr manchester and cossierich350 lately

EVERYBODY needs to run a decent virus check, but in reality that wont happen so these viruses will keep spreading

some decent virus software is ....

Etrust .. http://store.ca.com/dr/sat4/ec_main....ates&sid=35715

free download there the 2nd one down - EZ antivirus

Dave

PS didnt know it was someone from this website thought it was a random e-mail being sent with a virus so sorry Paul
You are not immune from viruses just because you have a Mac. Viruses are less prolific for Mac OS because there are hardly any Mac users(and it's dwindling) compared to Windows users.
If ya want a proper operating system try UNIX. None of this GUI shit.

Email can be spoofed very easily from a badly set up mail server so it may not have come from Pauls PC at all!

As said above, the chances are the virus didn't even come from Paul's computer so I wouldn't worry about it.

Errm, Apple has a massive user base world-wide, and their sales are increasing as they're entering the low-end market (seen the Mac mini? It's as fast as a ~2Ghz PC and starts at Ł399 - www.apple.com/macmini).

Oh, and Mac OS/X *is* Unix with a GUI skin, so stick that in yer pipe an' smoke it

Mac OS/X is NOT UNIX.

Linux isn't UNIX either but a least it conforms to UNIX standards. e.g. UNIX configs are stored in /etc not a 'registry'

No gcc either

You can do everything on a UNIX box on the command line! Pretty GUI's do not a proper OS make.

It's unlikely that the virus came from Paul - u prob have a a virus, and it looks in ur internet history for names that it can send itself from and to. They are totally random.
