Default Rolling road experts opinions on my print out....

Looking at this with your expert eye, what pearls of wisdom and words of experience can you share to point out anything I need to know....I was a bit disappointed in the end result, was hoping for around 500 but he ho... Operator says he had to back of at 175/177 because his rollers are only rated to 180 but said it would pull well into the 180s confirming it has been remapped but no where near the dps automotive claimed 535bhp...standard performance pack cars are 487bhp and 174 top end....

It's also meant to be around the 660nm of torque.... The car pulls like fuck through all the gears and doesn't feel lacking in any way, it still scares me after 18 months.... And it is a 12 years old car and I just passed the 100000 miles mark today....

Is that not quite a high drag loss for a rwd car? I always thought 5 to 10% was a guide for transmission loss on 2wd cars ?

Surely if he had to back off it wouldn't have reached peak power hence your 'low' reading?

Does the car have a dyno mode, and was it used?

When I've had cars dynoed they only use 4th gear or 5th in some cases, but guess you're an auto?

More questions than answers

You need Rick!

I think the losses with Maha are higher to give an accurate fly figure
You need boost mate to fill that mid range gap

Ime na tuning is rarely worth the cost without changeing mechanical parts, I'd personally leave it and wait til have a turbo motor then start the tuning fun

I'm not planning on spending big money chasing big power, was just curious where its at... You can get a bolt on supercharger kit for under 10 grand but 650bhp+ would be mostly unusable

Let's face it...you'd be better spending the money on a few pints if you wanted something to blab about in the pub than a power run like that

higher gear, less torque applied at the rollers.

I've had to do it on Dynapacks before otherwise it throws a wobbler with too much torque.

Of course then the other issue is higher roller speeds, which some cannot handle.

Err the fact that your car was nearly doing 180mph standing still?

Usually whatever gear is closest to 1:1 in my experience, generally 4th or 5th.

If there is an actual 1:1 lockup...that will also yield the highest numbers as less losses. But generally that would be common.

The fact it was hitting 180mph, would suggest 6th or 7th.

To be fair he briefly mentioned 4th and 5th.... I think the top speed was a seperate run through the auto box.... To be honest it was a bit pointless, he didn't really explain that much....

I think when you take your car to have it set up on the rollers that the guy who is doing it explains everything to you and is happy to answer any queries you have. I can only go on my time at MSD where they explain everything in depth and you get a nice cup of tea! After all they are the experts who should be able to leave you feeling 100% satisfied when you leave.

Cars back into the specialist for rear wheel bearings and he thinks that's a good strong result for a 12 year old 100000 miler...

It has been run in too high a gear. Torque output on this N/A engine isn't a lot so it could easily have been run in a lower gear.

Power is still climbing so if it revved out it would have made more power. However don't expect 500 as it simply won't do it. Highly tuned N/A engines will reduce power over time.

Like i have said before, the ONLY reason you can remap these cars and gain a power increase is the throttle body is not fully open from the factory in order to restrict it - the identical higher power engine is used in the E63 unrestricted.
