If you are having engine work which may be increasing power an uprated oil pump will probably be part of the re-build. Ask if they can include one.

On all the new oil pumps when I fit the Emtron Ecu installation I always recommend fitting a oil pressure sensor to the ecu to cut at a drop in oil pressure. This has already saved one engine so just a oil pump change rather than a destroyed engine which saved a possible 15k engine.

So does it shut the engine down completely if a sudden drop in oil pressure is detected? I presume it is much quicker than noticing a drop in an oil pressure gauge which can be to late to save an engine.

it has stages in the drop , so a slight drop would limit boost/RPM and a great increase that reaches your cut off pressure can indeed shut the engine down.

Very clever tech! For someone that has spent shit loads on their engine would be a very essential feature. Years ago I had that nightmare of sudden oil pressure drop followed by bottom end bearing failure which is not good!!

Yes very ..I've got all mine set up the same , if your spending a pretty penny on a build its wise to protect you're investment.

Was it low warning oil pressure that saved it on dyno mate when dizzy was leaking ?

Unfortunately not , as the wet wipe that was mapping and fitting the ECU install didn't put the safety features in place , luckily after a rebuild and set up via mark Knight and stu it was all set up properly.. lesson learnt .
