Tips on prepping for under seal.
Hi Guys I'm after some info as I've never done under sealing before ..the car is 100% solid and his painted in red paint under side that looks in good condition ..odd couple of flakey areas nothing big ..and where the tank is was old black paint and bits of under seal ... what's best easiest way of getting it ready for the under seal .
I'll add pics when home as my Imgur account is shit on phone.

I used a wire wheel on a grinder and took all the old crap off back to metal, gave the full underside a wipe down to get any contamination off. Then sprayed the whole underside in etch then taped off any areas I wanted to seal up and painted the sealant in. Once dried on went the stone chip and then painted.
In your case though mask off the full car as I found it settles on everything and you want to make sure it’s not on your paint work

Depends if you want it coloured or not . If you want the eat your dinner off look then get all scabby bits off , key the whole underside of the car and use coloured under seal . If not just spray that black shit on but strip everything of the underside of the car if you want to do it properly.

Hi mate
have you looked at Raptor ? It’s a upol product. It’s available in clear and you add 5-10% of the actual car colour and blast it on with a stone chip gun. It is a two pack product so it actually cures much harder than stonechip or Shultz . It has a decent half gloss finish and stands a fair hammering. A lot of guys in NI are now finishing in Raptor on classic hill climb cars and auto test cars because it looks so good and takes a bashing. All the advice you’re getting regarding preparation is good , make sure you use a proper acid based etch first b4 you spray or seal and the rest will be about how it looks. I use a tool called MBX to strip sealer, hot air gun and a scraper, and a lot of mind numbing painful sanding.lol
check out my thread doing up my RST the hard way.
regards Steve
