Prepping Mangessium Wheels
Any tips?
Can they simply be sand blasted clean? with very fine sand and low pressure.
Or is it best to rub then down with sandpaper?
Cheers

have to be very careful when blasting mag IIRC... they can "spit" as there are often tiny tiny air pockets in em or summat?? what about paint stripper?? If they werent too intricate I would rub em down ... but if theybadly corroded will need a blast or acid dip I would gues

i hope the wheel arent more than a few year old as mag turns very porous with age - the make up of the material also makes it very brittle with age also - i had a do with mag wheels a few years ago - never again, had so much trouble getting them to seal, keeping them inflated and keeping them either in a round condition or stopping them from cracking - gave up in the end - unless there new ( which i cant afford) then i wont be using them
