Rods sapphire cosworth

Here is the F1 at Bedford, the owner had the wheels remade in a bigger size to take modern rubber, my friend drove the designer home in it (Gordon Murray) and he signed the engine bay when he got out. My other friend took along the same owners CGT...i recently posted pics of the GT up as my other mate just bought it.

The colour change to this blue was £110k about 15 years ago
We snapped this at Macdonald drive through

Carl, will you be happy for us all to continue to call it Rod’s car? Personally I like to think of owners of important cars as the next custodian so to me it is fitting to still call it Rods car...for the history....what are your thoughts.?...it is kind of the same when people refer to the old escos on here by its old plate ending...YUM.
I don't mind at all mate, my main business I tripled in size myself it had 15 machines when dad ran it, I'm now upto 45 machines and almost all repairs done in-house with me in charge of workshop aswell as all other aspects of running it
But the company name will always be dad's name, I won't ever change it out of respect for my dad, the hardest bit is building a business out of nothing which my dad did, I've just taken it to its full potential and bought us up to date a bit more

£110000 for a paint job, Jesus wept
Both lovely cars, having that much dollar in a car would worry me to death I wouldn't dare drive Them

Part of the cost was 10 1/4 scale Mac F1 body shells from the wind tunnel which they painted in all the shades he requested
he has 2 Mac F1’s, valued over £15m each, my friend paid £640k for the GT, Mac charged 7k to remake the throttle pedal box to suit his legs and when he spun it and crashed the rear exhaust box alone was over £30k...he says the pair cost him close to a 5 bed house in Surrey to insure run and store each year as they are insured for any driver.
Mr Shead was going to remap a Cayman R for the new owner of the CGT, not sure if he ever did?
he has the second highest mileage recorded on the blue one after Roman Atkinson’s old one.

I guess it's all relevant to the wealth we have, must be a very wealthy man fair play to him I tip my hat

top man, as I mentioned a while back...your Dad was held in high regard at the wedding I attended up your way as he helped the farm with vehicles. It is nice to continue the history. I don’t know what you paid for the car but I bet in your mind the history was worth £10k alone, let alone the work that went in to it. I don’t doubt that what you paid has gone in to the engine alone by Rod.
If it wasn't rods car I wouldn't of bought it that is the biggest selling point for me, and I wouldn't pay what I've paid for any other saph personally, some I've seen for sale are bonkers money imo
4x4 saph on eBay for £34k bonkers money imo

Grear to hear rods car will live on and be well kept by am enthusiastic owner, sounds like you’ve had some mega cars.
i really fancy something big power myself but not sure which way to go, currently got a 380hp saff which I could modify more but as you know it gets very expensive, especially with all the chassis mods needed too. Thinking of going the jap route maybe an r33 gtr or evo 6.

Out of interest, what does he do, or did he do, for a living?

He used to be a senior partner at Goldman Sachs investment bank, he still sits on their board every now and then and advises them as he is something of a genius. He retired at 40 having traded the banks biggest ever deals, got loads of equity and then it floated.

Not exactly sure yet, there's a few jobs to do, engine is having some slightly different head studs fitted in the new year then it's off for mapping, it's just any niggles then to sort out, there's always going to be a few with a full custom build like this
