Default Out testing.

This is a quick aceleration test on my rally car. Logs show two markers, red dotted is the start of the accelleration the blue dotted is at 60mph. Shows launch hold, driver demand (pedal) at 100% but the throttle at 35%, then road speed increase and gear shifts.
Car was on 10yr old hard compound tyres, full tank of fuel, 2 large blokes lol.
It recorded a 0-60 in 4.3s, 0-80 in 7.1 with 3 shifts to 60, 4 to 80.
Could do with the flat shift on I think, plus a sequential box would help. 😎😎😎😎😎

Any pictures of the car? whats the full spec?

Whats the ratio's of the box as three changes just to get to sixty I'd have thought you are loosing time with the changes unless you have a setup to take advantage of the short ratios?

Very good times but it sounds like you have said,it must have a close ratio gearbox like my Sons 380 bhp Subaru Impreza , you are changing gear all the time but for rallying it works well.

The problem is not so much the ratios (well partly first gear) but the engine has an intake restrictor. Imagine having a 3.4cm pipe on your air box thats what I have.
This chokes the engine at 5500rpm so peak power is at 3600rpm and the shift point is 5500rpm in each gear.
But, it is designed to travel from 0-100mph and back down quickly and regularly. Very few long held straights.
Rally cars need punch out of corners.
This engine is less than 300hp.

Only 300bhp but at a guess with a 34 res I'd guess 460lbft.

Hi compression, GrpA cam profiles, 620cc injectors, Holset turbo bla bla bla on a Simtek ECU that does all the logging onboard.
Close ratio gearing, front and rear plated diffs, active centre. bla bla bla

Nothing Garrett on here pal, been there tried them all. They were all far too in-efficient. Either ended up with high charge temps, high EGT, a combination of both and not enough response.

Which holset are you running?

It used to be the in thing on some of the audi sites to get a holset from America for a cheap reliable turbo. I have been thinking about getting one since being in America now it would be cheaper.

Though years ago a guy I used to know was running remapped rs2 spec so circa 380bhp and managed a 2.6ish second 0-60 so have been thinking about sticking with that setup.

edit - Car was a audi s2 avant 2.2 20v 6 speed, time was at bruntingthorpe at gti international. Owner now last I heard works for MRC and his name is Ben. He used to drive the car like he stole it with no mechanical sympathy Nice guy, been a while since I chatted with him.

I was thinking that after I posted. I know a few tuners that start with a good na engine then turbo it with a modern turbo to get the results and low down power.

I've just put a set of inverted monotube B8 Bilsteins on my daily BMW yesterday. I'm very interested how they will feel!
