The problem is not so much the ratios (well partly first gear) but the engine has an intake restrictor. Imagine having a 3.4cm pipe on your air box thats what I have.
This chokes the engine at 5500rpm so peak power is at 3600rpm and the shift point is 5500rpm in each gear.
But, it is designed to travel from 0-100mph and back down quickly and regularly. Very few long held straights.
Rally cars need punch out of corners.
This engine is less than 300hp.
