Default St170 central locking

I apologise if this has been discussed before but couldnt find anything using my crappie phone. Ive searched the net and found similar issues but not the same as mine. My key fob will lock/deadlock and open the boot perfectly fine even up to 30ft away but only unlocks when it can be bothered! When i use the key i get a bong for about 10 seconds before the alarm sounds unless i turn on the ignition so i can get in the car with out waking the street at silly oclock in the morning. Its just more anoying than anything else aspecially if you've got your hands full ect. Ive changed the battery in the fob and reprogrammed it but still no joy so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.

cheers, ian

very common for remote fobs to be faulty on these cars, another cause can be the central locking control box under the dash

Thanks for the reply, is there any way of testing the control box to see if its at fault before committing to buying a replacement? Ive only had the car a couple of months and its starting to get annoying now.

i would 1st start with another keyfob as they sell dirt cheap on ebay and you can program the remote parts in seconds yourself, as for testing again these parts sell cheap so would simply swap it out and reinstate your remote same procedure as adding extras remote
