Omg, one of my mates had one of these, I used to look down on his lowly 1.3 from my 205 gti when I was 18.
I sort of knew it was special though.

It has got to be a wind up surely? The car is not in original factory condition but has had a rebuild so surely that alone makes it not as special. IF those bids are genuine (which I very much doubt) if someone pays £66,000 for it they must be off their rocker!!!!

I think it has been bid up to garner interest and be a talking point to be honest but who's to say it's not worth it when you have old Ferraris that would get mashed by £1500 worth of BMW 330i going for 1/2 million.
It's a fine line between appreciated rarity and badge snobbery

Didn't they say that about another limited edition homologation special last year, an S1 RS Turbo? Remember the outrage at a Ford Escort going for 60k. Aren't there only about 150 of these left?

I had a couple of novas back in the day and hated the drive of both of them, the 1.3sr especially, drove my mates 1.6 gte and didn't like that either but loved every other Vauxhall model, I really like the look of the novas though and would have loved to have made one more driver friendly, I seem to remember the steering wheel was slightly offset to the driving position in them which is what I didn't like. My mate build a turbo one back in the late 90s and that went like a scalded cat. The price of this one though you'd have to be on crack to spend that

Don't really care about cars back in 1914 rod .dont care about Bonham's or bond street or exclusive auctions rod.
I do care about cars I was brought up on as part of my life which was 80,s and 90,s rod.
My post was in jest,
I'm sure someone on Facebook will care though

The most expensive Vauxhall car sells at a record breaking £516,700 yesterday at an exclusive Bonham’s Bond Street sale. The ex-Laurence Pomeroy Jnr. 1914 Vauxhall 25hp 'Prince Henry' Sports Torpedo originally registered with a Belfast registration OI 2467 which still remains on the vehicle today.
Another sold for £242,000 recently.

Whys rod still here?
i thought he had asked jay to delete his profile back in April as he was moving over to Facebook to preach his tripe to his thousands of followers?
Or did he change his mind when he got booted off the cosworth page for being a rude troll?
i quite like that nova but it's still a nova and that 1.3 wouldn't pull you out of bed in the morning, give me a 1.3 sr with a c20xe in it any day for £4000 and I'd be more than happy.
not sure about the copper brake pipes either!

As far as I'm aware they were as quick, if not quicker to 60 than the GTE.
93 bhp at 6200rpm 0-60 8.7s
93 bhp at 6200rpm 0-60 8.7s

It's interesting how people will 'perceive' the value of a car. The fact is,despite the badge being 'only a Vauxhall' it was a homologation car and there aren't loads of them left. I'm
sure a realistic price would be a lot less than this was bid up to but a Porsche or Ferrari badge on the front wouldn't really see anyone blinking an eye about the price.
Case in point, back in the 80s a friend bought one of those late 60s 2 litre Sportomatic 911s. They were really cheap, one of the cheapest ways into a 911.....but omg, it was awful, 130 bhp on a good day, just about broke 10seconds to 60, the gearbox was shocking and being an old 911 it handled like a pig wearing rollerskates. He had plans to fit a later engine and proper manual box, better suspension etc etc but got disheartened as it couldn't keep up with a 2-litre rwd Escort. Came to sell it and he literally had to give it away. Fast forward 35years and an original low-mileage ( not surprised at the low mileage as it wasn't something you'd want to take out for a drive like a current 911 or Boxster ) one sold for a quarter of a million. Showed to me that a badge is no indicator of on road ability or driver appeal. For sure that dancing Geman horse badge has a lot of kerb appeal .......
