Default Best 2wd Rear Diff and Esc Cos Front Diff??

Im looking to upgrade my Esc Cos rear diff soon (Its a 2wd one) and my original Front diff and wondered what the best for grip and reliability will be??

Im gonna be doing alot of 1/4 mile launches, so both need to be strong and reliable. Prices would be good too...

Cheers
Steve

because the 2wd is 1/2 inch smaller think you need the shafts too.

BBal, Ive already done 1 2wd rear diff So just wanna make them as reliable as poss so I dont keep braking them...

Dave, Ive got a 2wd one with the beam already fitted, so looking for a straight replacement 2wd one if poss. I know the Quaifes are meant to be good, but are they reliable for hard launching?? @ £1000 per one I dont fancy blowing mine in 6mts

Fletch, typical weaknesses of the front diff are the casing itself, plus the planet carrier.
Replacement of these two with the Quaife thickwall case, and their ATB diff is pretty much essential.
It is also worthwhile considering shot peen and polish of the CWP.

Rear diff: now there's a thing........
Strangely, the planet set in the 7½" diff would appear (historically) to be less reliable than that found in the 7" unit, although the CWP is stronger in the larger diff
LSD options are:
Quaife ATB
Gripper (plate)
R+D (plate)

I personally reccommend either the Quaife or the R+D, the reason being that these two come with their own flanges, while the Gripper uses standard flanges shortened and drilled, which leaves them weaker.

Your choice would then be made between costs (£685.00+ / £1250.00+), versus handling characteristics. I'll be happy to explain these differences if you give me a call

quaife are very good for there money
remember to buy a thick wall case for the front aswell

if you want the best,,, 8 1/2 inch front (plus sump, shafts) and 9 inch rear,,, but you wouldnt like the price on that lot

9 inch diffs also fail the out put flanges break aswell
jag diffs are 10.5 inch and at yet not one has failed even rods with 750bhp dropped on the line with drag radials

escort cozzy n 4x4 there is not gearbox yet that will standbig bhp so like berni said stick to ford diffs
i currenty thying to sus out a tremec box in 4x4 mode but its long time from finishing this would put a end to al 4x4 hassels without going down the skyline box route
