Question Focus 02 Starting problem?

Hi Can anyone help or advise me on a problem that I am have starting my Focus.it is a bit long winded but hear go's. The car will not start as if it has a flat battery, when it is jumped started it will run without any further problems for up to a week are so. Their is nor reason why this happens, ie every thing is switch off. I have changed the Battery and alternator., but the problem is still there. 2 the next problem I have is with my Key, when I go to start the car It will not start. All dash light are on but just a click when I try to start the car. After I wait for a few minutes and retry the car starts straight away. or if I turn some thing off the like of the radio or heater the car will start. I will leave it at that for now, any help that anyone can give I would be grateful thanks for reading Paul

Hi Richie thanks for your reply, The only thing is that when I jump the car I can go for a week or so before it happens again? Had it been a starter problem I would have thought it would happen more often? I can jump the car, it will start and then switch it off and then start it up again without any further problem for up to a week are so.Their is no reason why it happens as the car has every thing switched off? Paul.

Clean the leads where they're in contact with the battery terminals.
Also the earth where it goes to the engine and body

Hi V8 thanks for your reply, I have done the battery terminals when I fitted the new battery. But I did not do the earth, so I will do that tomorrow and see if that works. Thanks Paul.

Check the main red battery lead. I had this in one of my escort gti years ago. The car would start no probs then it would just click I changed the battery and the starter but turned out to be the main battery cable. If it does it it again pop the bonnet and give the battery cables a good wiggle around all the way down to the starter.
Might not be the same problem but it's free and worth a try.

Hi Paul Allen ,my friend is having same problem with is 55 plate forcus but is instruments cluster comes on and sometimes they don't I know there is a problem on the dash he as change the starter on recommend by the AA man but the same problem as you are getting ,but have you tried the starter relay which is in fuse box under bonnet, if that doesn't cure it it could be the actual ignition switch they can wear ,have to keep my eye on this
