I'm confused as I've heard various options now, since this is a Toyota diff I would have bought similar to what was used at standard, since it's had a weir kit it sounds like they recommend something else so I'm confused I just want to put in the best for the combination

In all fairness it's probably not a bad idea to stick with what the manufacturer advises tbh.

Just had my rebuilt by Peter at solent gearboxes and axles. No where near that sort of money. Mine needed new seals and bearings other than that it was reset skimmed and back lash set. I'll let you know soon how much abuse it takes.

Did you have a Wier kit fitted too? Not that it makes any difference to the rebuild costs.

Mate has one in his saff with 500bhpnand an elite box. He has done a few track days and Nuremberg he kicks it's head in lol it locks both wheels and gives no trouble but he isn't running huge torque

No mate. I dont see the point. My engine should produce about 500bhp, we will see what happens. Sharky on here is pushing 400bhp, he hasn't broken his yet and he abuses the sh*t out of it.

Is that an elite sequential box?

If so how does it cope with 500hp?

Cheers Paul

Yes it is and he has taken it back for repair once and he was told that was because he was using the clutch too much? It's torque that kills them and I don't think he has massive torque

Cool thanks, I've always wondered about them boxes on 500hp plus cars.

Using the clutch too much eh.... Hmmmm

I'm guessing on a 500hp car if it's not on an efr he's prob got around 450lb ft roughly??

Cheers Paul

I am pleased to report that now I have 100 miles on my weir knitted diff, it is no longer noisy at all. In reverse you can hear it drag and feels like the handbrake is being pulled on but no noise. Front qualife has gone quiet too.

I'm roughly on the same mileage and have just swapped out the Millers CRX 75w-90 LS as the Millers was too thin and making the plates smack like a bastard, now running Castrol Syntrax 75w-140 LS though it and it's quiet as a mouse, the only noise was the smallest amount doing a 3 point turn

That is good news. I spun the wheels up in gearsc1 to 4 today in 2wd drive mode and got no noise at all.
