So how much have you guys paid Bara for a mk3 Supra LSD rebuild?
If we say that it requires new bearings (unlikely) and seals. I also have the Wier performance upgrade kit for him to fit - plates, spring and non crush sleeve etc. Wier did tell me to run this diff on organic oil - what are you guys using?
I am assuming postage is high to cuz they are a bit of an anchor.

Mine was about 650 I think with the up rate kit. Didn't need bearings. But from the feel of things just being pushed backwards and forwards the up rate kit has made it like my gripper
Mine had all new seals as they have to be changed as part of the rebuild you can't re use them. Price also included getting it back to me. Think I paid about 30 quid to ship it to them

Has anyone had a go at rebuilding them theirselves? Recently rebuilt the lsd in my capri which is a similar design with clutch plates, wasnt too bad. my supra diff needs rebuild just thinking is it worth having a look or just take to bara?

Mine is purely for track so not bothered about noises etc. Got the most aggressive kit to go in it too lol. Should be fun.....

I may have a go - the yanks seem to be ok when they do it. Wonder if the bearings are any cheaper direct from Toyota?
I paid Ł650 to have mine stripped, put back together with seals, weir kit etc but didn't need bearings. If I'd known they didn't strip casing tho I'd have collected it n had it chemically cleaned whilst it was apart. They did paint it but it looked right mess. So spent couple days cleaning it up wen I got it back and then sprayed it myself .

Anyone know how the oil cooler stack comes off? I know one of my diffs has one and I think clearance might be an issue. Id put a proper cooler on it if needed through the back cover.

me and my mate did my diff,
he s works at rally car and does diffs and boxes nearly every day so he knew what he was at
but tbh there was nothing to it ,
we put the weir kit in it , shimmed it and fitted new seals
did it in less than 2 hours
so fuck paying anyone Ł600+ to do that lol

And as to the oil seals if there not leaking don't tutch them as they don't have to come out if your only work on the rear of the diff . When you strip one of these diffs your self you will then think twice to paying some one Ł600+ to bo the same thing
It all depends how far you go lol if you remove the pinion to check the pinion bearings you then need to torque the bearing up right and check pinion height. Also when you shimmed it and set the pre load on the LSD how did you check what nm it was set too because having it set too high makes it feel horrible in a road car.
I wanted peace of mind with mine, Bara has a great reputation and I am happy to pay for that quality. I haven't ever rebuilt a diff so happy to pay him.
Whilst my car was on the ramps today I adjusted my handbrake ready for the mot and I noticed how hard it is to turn the rear wheels, it feels like a brake is dragging even though they are not....I wonder if this is due to my diff not having done 100 miles yet or if it will always have that?

I took mine out for the first time last week and to start with it was noisy as hell and when i pulled out of my road end the car went broadside at nothing speed as if one side locked - after a bit of use it started to free up and the noise went down, i only did around 10 miles so still more to do - running Millars LS oil in mine
I paid around Ł500 for a rebuild using a weir kit and fitting of new seals.
I didn't need bearings but I also replaced the pinion and crownwheel that I picked up new in the U.S. when I was on holiday.
This was about a year ago.
Cheers Paul
