Default Is this car worth it just in parts?

Depends on what's been done to engine etc but saw it and thought damn, wish I'd seen this before I bought the mk5 cabriolet turbo!

I was thinking of it just for the engine, transplant it into something like a mk3 fiesta similar. If the engine is decent and has been done professionally then must be worth the asking price for engine alone?
Can strip it and sell all the parts to make some money back too.

cant fault your logic but judging by the owners wiring skills and cars appearance it does make you wonder how well the engine was built

Gotta be worth it for the parts alone as long as the engine was built properly

I would want to see receipts for engine build and proof of power output before parting with any money

Ye I don't think the mods on it are worth much in todays scene, you might get a bit for the interior and ICE, the bodykit is next to worthless sorry, and the wheels will probs get you 100. If the engine is well built and he can prove its power and prove its been well done then it may be worth sticking in something else. But being honest you're probably better off finding another one if you want to just do an engine swap.

If I was still wheeling and dealing cars I'd already have bought it, either get it running and make a tidy profit, or break it and make a tidy profit.

I think some people expect way to much the guy only wants £1700 for it, might be buyable for £1500, bargain!

I even remember this car! I remember reading about it in the fast ford magazines before I could drive. Im pretty sure it was in a fast ford buying guide of a mk6 escort and pretty much itemised everything the chap has done to it. It used to be a real show car, at all the shows, fast car and max power shows etc.

I'd always approach things on gumtree that look too good to be true with much caution.. But, it it floats your boat go and have a look, there must be some good bits on there and it isn't a lot of cash.

Not my cup of tea and it looks horrible. I don't know as it's worth the asking or if the bits would add up to it? Some things you just walk on by.

I think get the outside looking stock and mint, maybe just having a full rs2k kit on it and some up to wheels with stock lights on and you should have your self a nice looking car.

Buy it and do the above

Just because a MAF is fitted, doesnt mean to say it's still being used. It just means they didnt remove it.

If that sort of car is your thing and you wanted to use a lot of the parts, then have a rattle at it. Assuming it does actually run and drive etc.

But hit him with a low number first, you've nothing to lose.

Good idea this. I think looking completely standard with steel wheels etc and u got yourself a proper sleeper. Maybe selling the seats, ice and wheels etc would nearly pay for the car?

True but why spend what would be well into four figures on a performance product to leave an obstruction in the inlet or to save moving the air filter.

Who knows, why put all that sound system shit, engine work into a junk car ?

People do strange things sometimes....and I doubt it's making so much power that the MAF is causing it any real troubles. You could say the same about that piece of shit squashed air filter too.

Either way, the car does still have value if the OP is after that sort of thing. It certainly sounds like it's worth a lot more as parts than it is as a car.
