Default Broadband Discussion....

i was on 1MB with unlimited download limit for £24.99 a month.

Today i have changed to 2MB with a 15GB cap. Now my computer and internet can be on for days at a time so im a little unsure regarding the 15GB limit, is it enough?

Now all these ISP's seem to be capping the broadband id just like to know what package your on and your limits?

The software does suck however you dont need to use any of it can still browse the web using IE or whatever ya preferance and a email prog that will support IMAP (eg outlook express).

I've been using AOL for years and it's ok, I dont often get problems with the connection, however I've never used their software as it's poop! and designed for 5 year olds or old people!

If it wasnt free i'd use something else more than likely. currently have 4 PC's and 2 xbox's connected to the same BB connection.

They are doing this because they can't afford to run without them for these prices go look at the isps without caps one called zen and they do 512k for £21 compared to tiscali's 15.99 with 30gb a month cap so will be switching to zen once this 12 month contract has ended then I can download as much as I like
You get what you pay for basicly

£50

just downgraded to 1mb tho, what a nay on unusable connection, or have i been spoiled

4.5meg mp3, record = 7 seconds

at work, i downloaded 6 films in less than a few hrs

but then thats

Colt telecoms
uncapped
install fee = prolly astronomical
151M feed
£40,000 a month

Nildram are capping their services but increasing all users to 2Mbit.

However, the measuring of the transfer limit only takes place between 6am and midnight, so you could schedule alot of your downloading to take place between those hours (still really sucks though - especially if the seeds for a torrent are down at night for example).

The capping is set at 50Gb so seems alot more fair than some of the other companies mentioned in this post.

Cheers,

Andy
