Absolutely, at least once a week I'll take the long way home just for a good clear out.

I used to do 7 miles each way in my focus st, it was always gunking up with mayo under the filler cap. Stopped using it for work and it only came out to go for a blast, didn't have a problem after that!

Why does it do that? I've had that happen when the cars been used for short trips, after a good blast it seems to sort it self out. Condensation maybe?

I do just over 60 miles a day each way 3 days a week at the moment, but that's going to change next year if I can stand it any longer and go down to 1 day a week, rest of the time I'll be based from home.

i used to do Margate(kent) to Carlisle 3 days a week, wasn't technically a commute it was a delivery, but once delivered the run back was to home, and that was over night in an old mk4 escort(orion) 1.6 non turbo diesel, 5.5 hours north in late rush hour traffic, but the run home was middle of night so only took 4.5 hours, still not bad 3 days a week, about 800 miles a day

when i was truck driving in america, i could easily do 1000 miles on a monday, then 600-700 a day for the rest of the week, 4000 miles a week average, regularly, lived in the truck, so going to work was just moving from bed to seat, but then driving to my next home for the night

longest actual commute was about 50 miles to central london before the rush hour, and home in the rush hour, an hour to get there, upto 3 hours to get home
