Longest daily commute in a Ford
As a home worker, help me feel more blessed by sharing with me the awful details on your long daily commute. Anyone do more than 60 miles each way, each day?

I do 74 miles per day total, to and from work takes anything from 50 minutes to a couple of hours if traffics shit due to usual smash or breakdowns.
Sucks the fuckin life out of me at times.

3.3 in a Transit. But that's only the morning start location - finish location could be miles away. I've done 40/50/60 even 80 miles from last job to home on plenty occasions.
Even worse is when it's only twenty something, but that twenty something starts in central or south London... Then I'd rather it be 50 miles but on the motorway!

i was going to be doing 130 miles each way per day for at least 2 days a week
but work were providing the van and the diseasal and paying me from when i left my house to when i got back again (or overnight accomodation plus food etc)
i thought long and hard about it before i said "fuck that"

Hear there's a chap called Santa and his route is over 24,000 miles as the crow flies but it's multiple drops so probably a lot lot more.
Lucky it's only once a year.

6 miles to work for me, hence the v12 for the daily commute
45 mins on days sometimes, 10 mins on night shift
use the cosworth in the school holidays, as the clutch is too much of a chore in traffic

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I used to do 50 miles a day to uni in my Saph Cosworth, it was comfortable quick and not that noisy. Had decent audio in it so was an all rounder for me. I bought it from Grimsby and drove it home to Slough with no probs. Even went to Bradford and it ate the miles up and was decent on fuel too

60 a day, in morning at 5.30am 30miles can be done in a very very silly time esp if I've one of my colleagues on me tail
At 5.30pm 30mile averages 30/40mins good run or 2.5hrs!!
Sadly however its driven a focus st IS NOT a commuter car for echo bunnies or the itchy wallet brigade

9 miles, I've done it in 9 minutes in the T5 when I was running a little late once.

I've done some silly distances in short lengths of time when I was working early mornings/nights. Don't bother any more, it's just not worth the risk of loosing my license.

Do you not get a van? So you have to carry all your tools around in your car? That does seem unfair imo

The JIB traveling rules state that distances are worked out as the crow flies. Weston Super Mare from Cardiff is less than 20 miles as the crow flies.
However I'm currently working a trainee engineer/project manager role so not having to carry around any tools. Just a laptop and my clothes.

We're all expected to use our own cars to carry our own tools. We don't carry any company tools, equipment or gear.

I've just seen where your from, going over the bridge each time is a bugger as well then for you. Over Ł6 now isn't it?

and this was in my commuter sierra that i took to work and back for 6 weeks before the boss decided that the alarm going off every few minutes meant that he'd rather i took the van home

Does anyone worry these days that such short journeys are bad for your car? Not warmed up properly, engine and exhaust full of wet, corrosive residuals etc. Or was that just what they warned us about last century?

i always have a couple of decent runs out a week too, either out with family or taking mtb out.
in an ideal world i'd use a 1 litre banger and not worry, but the 3litre turbo diesel gets me everywhere comfortably. 10 months on has proven it can do the job like this.
