Default Recommendation for a scanner

Merry Xmas gents,
Looking to buy a scanner in the new year and looking for some help/recommendations. It's purely only going to be used for DIY purposes so no commercial use.

I need it to read & reset eml codes, airbag, abs and service indicators

Budget is £300 or less. Currently looking at the launch x431. Opinions please gents

At work we have the latest mac scanner, the latest Bosch scanner and latest snap on scanner and an old launch that we use on the older cars including and pre eobd and eobd2. The launch has been kicked around (by accident) and lived on a dusty shelf for years (before we re did the storage area) and it still works fine and does everything u want. I'll have to check what model it is but every mechanic i know says launch is really good and for your budget it'd be good but u can get second hand snap on scanners for good prices from some places and there really good. The main scanners we have were about £5k each and the launch was around £1500 at the time I believe

At sub £300 you're being hopeful for ABS and other chassis related items unless it's for one or 2 specific marques unless you find an old outdated setup someone is replacing.

Possibly, not too bothered about having a 2nd hand unit, but would prefer a recommendation of a unit to go for or avoid

Any half decent snap on scanner u can't go wrong. I've used nearly every model they've ever made since they first come out and always been spot on. New there expensive but second hand off a dealer and regular updates will be fine
