Default What's it worth, opinions please

Hi, been after a 3 door for a while, been toying with building one but can't find a project or shell with id that hasn't got bad history behind it? I've been offered a genuine black 3 door, complete car, ran and drove when stored 10+ years ago, solid shell with only a few patches on rear arches and one door, rest is solid. Interior is in great condition but here's the kicker, it's damaged and on register as cat d, the damage isn't bad and not worried about repairing, just wondered what people thought it was worth and weather it would put people off in years to come if I decide to sell,

It's worth whatever your willing to pay ..If you want to look at from a selling point of view in years to come ..id personally save up or go out and buy a genuine straight car ..as personally I wouldn't go near a 3dr with bad history ..unless you can live with it and enjoy the cheapness .

So hard to put a value on without seeing it, but you'll never struggle to sell it.

Sure, some buyers with an open-ended budget will want one with the best history possible, but if it's restored to excellent condition it will always appeal to plenty of buyers who know that there's a fair chance that whether it was recorded or not, it stands a fair chance that a 30 year old Cosworth would have been in a few fights in its life.

if you can get it for less than Ł10k then id say it was a good buy.

as mentioned above, you'll never struggle to sell it. The prices of these are just going up and up . just like rs turbos and other retro fords/cars.

It's on the register it ain't going up much.. If you get it cheap and can do the work yourself cheap then do it and enjoy but don't expect a profit that much as above says .

Yeah it's minor, just the corner caught the bonnet and wing, don't get me wrong it needs full paint and everything going through, it's quite a bit cheaper than 10k. How about a by that has sat for 10+!years would it need for strip down or would some people refresh seals' gaskets and give it a go?

If you intend to drive it and enjoy it then who gives a fuck if its a cat-d.......provided you can evidence why. Most folk buy these kind of cars on condition if they're to drive and enjoy

If you're looking for an investment piece to polish at shows and sell in 10 years at a profit then look elsewhere

Buy it, fix it, drive it.

As stated above, I reakon 95% of retro Fords have "History" but back in the day when these were in there prime they didn't catergorise cars so if they was damaged etc before the late 90's you'd never know anyway!

My car is on a cat D & it's a nice clean honest car, I had what I thought was a genuine low miles/owner car many moons ago & it turned out to have been in at least 2 accidents BUT was HPI clear!

It will go up plenty!

Yes it will always be a % behind those that aren't and in comparable condition, but how much could you pick a 3dr up for 5, 10 and 15 years ago? The cheapest one you could buy today will be a lot more than what the average one cost back then, regardless of what history it has!
