Default clutch problem (rs2000 mk5)

Right guys I needs some help...

Back at the Bed's RSOC trackday I broke my car...

Come round the bends before the main stright I tried to drop the car into second and the clutch went to the floor and couldn't get any gears... I got round the corner coasting then discovered the clutch would come up to the top of its travel but there was no resistance till very near the bottom and and definatly couldn't get any gears.

So far its taken me ages to get round to stripping out the pedal box cross shaft and inspect the clutch ratchet... but its fine, no broken teeth or wear at all!!!

So I'm confused... the rachet had moved all the way round i.e. its taken as much slack out the cable as possible.

The cable is ok and seems to be the same length as a new one..

and the clutch arm moves in the gear box with what feels like the right resistance.

What on earth can it be?!?!?!

Could the actual clutch lever arm on the gearbox not have slipped/jumped around on its teeth??

Wouldn't know - never had a mk5, but recalling my mk4 days (and I think the mk5 gearbox is similar if not the same setup) the teeth/bolt set up on the lever never seemed particularly special - and the lack of other evidence, an idea possibly?. Does it look like it might have slipped?

check the arm hasnt cracked by the spigot-it could be opening up when you put pressure on by pressing pedal, common problem with diesels and RS2k because of larger/heavier clutch, we sell quite a few diesel clutch arms.

isnt the mk5 clutch ratchet a allen key adjustment rather than the mk4 "self adjust" type? If so could it be a case of the allen screw come lose/fallen out and the ratchet mech gone way out of adjustment ???

Update time!

Well its not the ratchet... although that job invoves stripping out the front seat, the steering column and everything under the dash

Its also not the clutch cable

Its not the clutch arm, brought a new one and its EXACTLY the same shape as the other, so no bends there

So I guess its the clutch then
