Default Printer Ink

I've got an Epson C64 Printer and for the first time in 18months I need to BUY ink ( the missus used to get Epson carts free from work !!)

Firstly, How sodding expensive is it ! bejesus I nearly passed out in PC World, they wanted £20 just for a black ink cart.

Are the compatibles any good ? or are they all pants ? or are only some good ?

Anyone found somewhere cheap for ink ? Good / Bad stories ?

Look forward to some replies. I'm out of Black ink and so am near desperation ( but not stupid enough to spend silly money in pc pants !)

I used to work Canon helpdesk. If you use compatable inks it can fook your printer and will invalidate your warrenty. The ink used by original manufacturers is often thinner than the cheaper options, so it blocks the printheads or damages other parts on the printer...

The way companies make their money is through the consumables, such as paper and cartridges, hence why printers, etc are quite cheap to buy in the first place!

Its up to you if you take the risk fooking your printer in the long run and it shouldn't cost too much to replace it if it does go wrong... Good luck
