Default Carb cleaner any good for the cat?

need to clean my throttle body with some carb cleaner as its a bit gunked up, but will it be ok when it gets to the cat or will it ruin it?

It will be fine I always use it for cleaning throttle bodies, infact cleaning everything. It evaporates pretty quick so won't hang about to damage it

I really wouldn't recommend carb cleaner - I don't think that would be good for them at all. Whiskers is better, but if you can handle the smell, they generally prefer steamed fish (deboned of course)

Second question then, can I just squirt into the running engine or do I need to remove it first?

best to remove it, then what shit is in it, not gonna fall into the engine.

I had clean throttle body on dad's old Vauxhall Astra, sorry, just after he bought it as intermittent engine light kept coming on. The carb cleaner I used was CAT and lambda safe.
I bought a paper gasket it uses just in case, but I gave it a good clean insitu first and that seemed to do the trick, no more pesky light, so didn't have to remove mine.
