Default How much oilflow- or pressure does a turbo need?

I'm fitting a Volvo T5 turbo (can't remember the brand just now) to an old bike.

The bike has a low pressure oilsystem so not enough to feed the turbo.

I've modded the sump and fitted an electric pump to feed the turbo but that has way to much flow so I need to restrict it, question is by how much?

Does anybody know how much flow and/or pressure this type of turbo needs?

Which model is it from? They use Mitsubishi TD04 turbos, 850's ran a 15G, V70's then moved to a 16T, there's also the 18 and 19T from various R models. I can't help on the oil pressure but that might give you a bit of Googling power.

Thanks for reminding me! It's the 15G or 16T TD04 Mitsu item!

I'll ask on a couple of Volvo forums for you to see if anyone knows.

Apparently the TD04's actually have a built in restrictor so it shouldn't matter too much on how high the pressure is set to.
Hope this helps.

Turbos do not need a lot of pressure. I'd be very surprised if the engine itself cannot supply enough oil to keep almost any turbo happy.

What electric oil pump are you using, and how have you determined it supplies too much oil ?
