Its Torque not Power that kills a gearbox. You wont abuse 400ft-lb too many times with a T5 then again drive like Miss Daisy & its fine at 500ft-lb.

You've also got to take into account tractive effort. This encompasses weight, tyre contact patch, grip and torque.
I have a Cosworth engined Westfield with 205/50/15 medium compound 888s with circa 400lbs/ft of torque and it weighs 630kgs. Personally I think it's easy on its gearbox.

Well said, loads of torque through grippy tyres, good diff, correct suspension and lots of weight will kill a box much faster than a car that can spin it all away...tractive effort is a great term!

mine took over 400lb/ft for years and believe me i tried to break it but it just took it but then again it did like to spin the rear wheels for fun

I took 3rd gear out of mine and smashed a diff with a good strong 350 set up. No idea how much torque it had but I was on coil overs and r888's as well

Yeah, good suspension set up and sticky tyres make a huge difference, those r888s up to temp really do hook up

In a 200kg vehicle with 165/60x13 tyres I'd say it could handle 8-900hp

Or did you have a specific application and usage in mind ?
