Traction mods for big hp....
Just wondering what everyone has to aid traction with their big hp cossies?
I'm talking 500hp plus engines here.
I know it's a mix of everything ie suspension, tyres, how the powers actually delivered etc, but what are people doing?
One mod more than others?
Does a modded beam cure most traction issues? Or is that just a good starting point?
I'm talking predominantly traction issues too rather than handling

Correct (not too hard) rear springs, good tyres, supra diff with weir kit or a,well set up and rebuilt std diff. 6 degree beam. Good dampers and a good geo set up.

I have used a lot of Michelin pilot cup sport tyres and Dunlop direzza track tyres but they were pretty bad for road noise and harsh feeling along with terrible on standing water (great wet grip unless they hit puddles). So my question is how do the R888 s compare and do they need a lot of heat in them as a road tyre?
I am currently on toyo proxes but want to fit the best.

I used to have them Dunlops on mine. In the first week of having them I busted my standard diff lol they improved grip that much. With me the cars only a toy so road noise and wet weather use don't come into it. I guess if you use your car a lot more then there be and issue in the wet. But to be fair no tyre will work in the wet on a powerful rwd. I rate r888's a lot there very good tyres

I have a supra Diff fitted (with the weir kit), suspension is avo adjustables with a decent ride height Spring (car is not slammed on the floor), I'm guessing a beam is probably the next mod really?
I have some nankang rs-2r tyres fitted but tbh I don't think I rate them.
I might change them for some 888's

It does sound like beam time. For traction you do want a bit of sag on the back but that's where the cossie beam changes geometry so you want the six degree to help.
My cossied pug has nankangs on the rear but I believe it was the previous owner cutting cost. The last job on my list will be 4 new sticky tyres but not decided on what yet. I know some people do rate nankangs but I believe them to be a budget option and tyres are the final link to the road so you need something good. I would only use r888 or something that extreme if you have the option to leave the car at home and take another as if it is chucking it down and puddling on the roads then you wouldn't want them if they are anything like the other track day stuff I have used.
I was talking to a tyre guy the other day and he can only buy r888 through the competition suppliers now and he said the normal suppliers don't want it in their road tyre stock or cannot.

Yeah I Trotsky agree mate.
Thought I'd try the nankangs as they had really good reviews.
I've had 888's before so think I'll get some of them again.
I believe them come in two diff compounds though....??

Happily retired
I still have a set of wheels with the Dunlops on, certainly the best for grip ive used. Will try the new 888R next.
I think the Jag diff with its diff loc made the biggest difference on mine I can see why the drag boys use it. Also Chassis connectors front to back steadied it all up. Have twin springs on the rear to limit squat to 30mm set up by Black art. Leda coilovers modded by black art & a rear beam complete my set-up. It copes well with a lot more Power than most.

Any pics of the chassis connectors? Are they like link arms or tie rods like you would have on a 4 link axle?
