Default Help transit cutting out ??

I have a 2002 2.0 fwd transit was driving fine then went to pick up my sons from school today , was sitting in van ticking over and it died as if it was going to cut out but didn't , I was low on fuel so switched off got boys went to get diesel and it kept cutting out like I had just turned key then it would re start no problem , cut out about 5 times in couple min , got fuel still same got home left it ticking over every so often it will die down as if to cut out then pick back up again

Any ideas thanks

First thing i would change is the fuel filter but im sure the fuel pump causes this fault.

There are a number of things that could cause this fault. Is it a rough idle ? Transit diesel systems are quite common for injector faults and rail pressure sensors and solenoid valves depending on the type. Fuel filter would be the obvious first check as it is possible that when being g low on fuel some sludge from the tank could have been sucked up

It sits and ticks over fine only with it hunting every so often but when it cuts out its not like it fuel starvation and kangaroos its just like you have switched it off then it fires up straight away no problem

A mate had a 58 plate tdci...
That was just cutting out, restarted straight away...
That had to have a new pump fitted...

Its not a tdci, its the older tddi that was fitted to the earlier transits

Is the keys loose in the ignition barrel? Seems to be a fault on some transits, making and braking the immobiliser through the key?
