Too many posts.. I need a life!!
i've tried it a couple of times using the Mandrake edition.
Pros
-Excellent value for money Mandrake is Ł50 and includes a full office suite , paint package etc. and if you get a copy of it, it is totally legal to copy it for free!
-Tons of free software
-Your not adding to Bill's mountain of cash from selling buggy software.
Cons
-Compatibility with hardware is always a bit hit and miss, especially dialup modems, or very very fresh new pieces of h/w without the drivers.
-tricky to fix when you are used to Windows thoroughly (as I am)
-Getting new h/w going or even finding the cause of the problem can be a total nightmare unless it detects and works straight away.
- Does have bugs (little random things), but these are not that annoying when you consider that for the most part the software is free.
-Game compatibility could also be a problem in a lot of cases.
If you have some spare time, and like messing around with computers it is well worth a look I think.

then i suddently thought of something... "why bother"
XP is stable enuf anyway
used to be handy back in the day of 56k modems etc as the networking side was much more stable/speedy
