Default Help ref buying a car with finance outstanding

I've been looking now for a couple of weeks into buying a mk2 frs and a few have come up in my budget range but as soon as I ask if the car has outstanding finance most are saying yes £10,000-14,000 still to pay

My question is if anyone can help me with some info as to how would I go about paying it off ?
Most finance company's only open 9-5 ? Monday to Saturday or are they open Sundays and till late as I can only see the cars on a sat or Sunday and I've only got cash in hand

Put the cash in to your bank, phone up their finance company, settle the loan, get written conformation by email or fax, then pay the owner of the car the remaining amount.

I did think that but a couple of problems to mind

One is the car is a few hours away

Two how quick would the payment take to clear with the finance company

I read that you can pay through a bank to the finance company ? But again how long does this take to clear as would want conformation that all is clear on the car

Should be straight away as long as your bank processes 'faster payments'. Probably be best to contact whichever finance company is owed money for whichever car you are looking at, as I'm sure they all have different rules to each other etc.

card transaction would be instant (i.e approved or declined)

I'd do it that way.

You won't be able to pay the finance, I just recently purchased a car with outstanding fiancé and the finance company wouldn't let me pay it in any form card/transfer ect. The way I had to do it was got to the bank with the seller pay the money direct into there bank so the funds were there instantly then they had to call the finance company and pay it off with there card.

I did something similar a while back and we managed to do it by telephone, a 4-way conference call with the banks (mine and his) and the finance company and CHAPS transfers. Bit of a pain but it worked.
