Default Anyone stripped a Cossie steering rack? strange alignment problem...

Basically it is a recon rack, ive set the spline on the column so i get exactly 1.25 turns to each lock, but with it centred the wheels are still turning left.
Ive tried correcting it by adjusting the track rod ends but the drivers side is about to fall off and the passenger side is wound up to the end of the threads.
is it possible that the stops are set incorrectly? or have i ended up with some odd length tie rods?

have you tried spinning the triangular connecting bit round where it comes through the bulkhead, i had a similar problem once and it turned out to be that.

If the splines or the triangle were out then you wouldn't get equal 1.25 turns to each lock from the centre.

Not the splined part, the opposite end of the steering coupling. The part that connects to the shaft that comes through the bulkhead.

10mm bolt and turn it 1 'traingle' to the side needed

with the steering wheel centered undo the triangle at the bulkhead then straighten the wheels so they point straight forward, it will be 1 notch out as it can go on in 3 places. i had same problem and had to have tracking set so steering wheel wasnt straight till i adjusted it

If i do that i will end up with more lock in one direction than the other...
the problem is the the rack hits the stops. i get 2.5 turns lock to lock, so 1.25 each way. if the rack isnt in the centre when the steering wheel and wheels are pointing forwards, i will end up with say 1 turn one way and 1.5 the other, its not going to make much difference really, apart from the steering wheel self cancel won't line up.

You've obviously centred the rack first right?
Then the splines bit goes on
Then you have the intermediate shaft which has 3 ways of adjustment
And then you have the actual steering wheel with another 6 positions of adjustment

Believe me, I had exactly the same problem.

1 track rod end was on 3 turns, the other fully wound on.

Hold the rack in the right position and rotate the steering wheel 1 triangle turn which ever way you need.

Then adjust rod ends to bring it in
