Default fuel pump one way valve question

need to fit the above to my car (rs turbo)as its missing. firstly is this the correct item?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sytec-One-...item58a03d78de
also do i need to get anything else for it because looking at that valve it will leave the threads on the outside and the union currently on the pump will need the threads to be on the inside of the valve. hope that makes sense. cheers

Post a picture.

Although the valve really isnt necessary. I assume car runs fine without it at present ?

the story is i had my car in to get tuned up but was a few bit wrong with it. ive replaced the faulty bits and the car now runs but havnt driven it. i was told i needed this valve but unsure of its purpose. was going to fit one when i fit another pump. if its not necessary i will just leave it, as im just trying to get a bit of use out of the car till the tax runs out then decide if i get rid or cough up and get it sorted

it stops leak-back, car may start quicker with 1 fitted,
cannot pressure test the system without 1
in terms of "is it essential" I`ll leave it for the eggheads to answer
but its a cheap part and part of the original design,
and they did a good job, designing it,
