oil pressure switchs fail quite regularly and piss oil every where.
water pump bolts through the timing chain cover, the gasket fails and fills the sump with water. looks like the head gasket has failed but in most cases it is the waterpump
timing chain rattles as the chain streches and the tensioner can't cope with the extra length.
known to snap exhaust camshafts.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
in addition to the above that ive seen quite alot on.
steering racks knock, cv boots and joints,handbrake cables snap on the rear beam,
if its got abs have a look to see if the recall been done. The modulator should have a big plastic cover covering it and a new electronic part with blue gel inside the connector. Powersteerimg motor goes bandit. Bulkhead seal fails allowing the foot wells to fill with water. New bulkhead panel with seal are circa £30 but cost a fortune to fit. Gearlinkages pop off or cause the loss of 1st and 2nd unless you lift the leaver up.

i'd forgot about the steering racks and gear linkages

Had a lot of experiance with these, rebuilt a few 3 cylinders and put one into a rally prepped Corsa B.
Pretty much bullet proof, you dont see hundreds of them on the road for being unreliable, even when they are the parts are cheap!
Engine wise its usually (as said) oil pressure switches, EGRs clogging and poor engine breathers.
Chains will always rattle as the tensioner is fed with oil through the SMALLEST hole you could imagine, causing it to go slack and strech which makes it worse, then again ive seen corsas with 140k + miles on the original chain still going, rattling like mad but still going!

Wiper motors pack up. Gearboxes are sponsered by cadburys bottom arm bushes wear. Steering racks wear springs snap back axle bushes split. Gear linkages wear and fall off.

Ive got 1.3 diesel,cheap as chips run,115,000 miles,engine gear box,clutch all fine,like anything i suppose all depends if they have been serviced etc.

Can develop a misfire down to the Ecu and only solution is a new ecu. Body computer can go tits up.

We have a corsa 1.7 cdti from new 04 plate just turned over 172 k with no problems only wear and tear still returns 70 miles to £10 of dessel never drinks any oil or water cheap road tax

The 1.4 diesels can have troubles. There only 30 quid a year tax snd are good on juice. I think the common fault on the diesels is the injector seals leaking. Any easy job to do though.
