My big area manager has a new one top spec as we are also fiat and ford. The thing is huge lol when you put it in reverse the rear view mirror turns into a rear camera screen as well

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
No experience of them but they look good in blue or the dark orange. My mate had the old shape as a company truck and bought one for his mrs and her horse business. I liked that one a lot, iirc they suffered with gearbox problems.
I considered one but unless I went through the motions I couldn't even get a price for them. I went with the L200 and so far I'm glad I did on the strength of the bed length. Mines got a reversing camera and with that in 99% of situations I can slot it in where others have struggled in smaller cars! I'd be fucked without it in all honesty! My choices were between the the hilux and barbarian. To match the spec the hilux would have been another 2K+
If you just need one as a lifestyle truck they look cool and I'd consider one next but if you need the load space you'd do well considering the barbarian. I've done 6k in mine since the very end of March and I love it, barely notice it's loaded, in 4wd in the wet, on cruise, full tank and about 400kg on the back, ac on its still knocking out 33mpg! I typically get mid 30s but can see 40mpg.

The 2.2 is pretty gutsy compared to the equivalent L200 or Navara so I'm told. The father in law is a quarry manager up here and had to replace his old Ranger with something - he tried them all but went with what he knew and got the new Ranger. He reckons he's getting 22-24mpg out of his when he was getting mid 30's comfortably out of the other 2 and his old Ranger.
Other than that, he likes it but did comment on the noticeable size difference between the 2. I've had to use it a couple of times and it drives well but does feel a little underpowered.

I went for the VW Amarok over the Ranger.
Had the a Ranger on test from brand new and it had a fault with the turbo, so they gave me another to use, which was ok but it was just very cheap inside and was a bit gutless.
The Amarok is only a 2ltr but it seemed to perform pretty much the same but got better fuel economy, and the interior is quality. It also looks less American which in the end is what swung it for me.
Although I do like the look of them.

The company I work for had a 3.2 limited one, blue, had to get the engine replaced twice to to it over heating.
It still never ran right, in the end FOrd took it back and we now have a wild track 3.2.
Heard on Friday that all the early 3.2 models have been recalled for a over heating issue, something to do with a belt rubbing a water hose.
My honest opinion avoid them.
Have you thought about a hilux 3.0l d invinsible? I had one of them a couple of years back, cracking all round vehicle and hold there money well. Just another option for you.

Well had the test drive and really liked it. The ranger was a bit bouncy but I guess that's to be expected when using van springs. Also the gearbox was a bit notchy but I think will get better when run in or I might go for the auto box. The fiesta st is a right little weapon so nice to drive and inspires real confidence to chuck it about ace little car it really Suprised me how good it was to drive.

Go for an auto on the ranger. The boxes don't get better with time judging by the second one I had.
Love the fiesta ST, proper good fun little car

Well the dealer rang yesterday and there is a 10-12 month waiting list for a ranger so I said I would have the one that I test drove as it was better than waiting a year for a auto one.
The reply was that the commercial vehicle department don't want to let that one go as the deal would not show on there figures so want to keep it for test drives.
To which I replied that that was stupid and can't believe a customer wants to buy a car but that they don't want to sell one so I'm going to look at other dealers to see if anybody has any in rangers in stock.
