Default Ford RS accessory kit question/query...

I'm currently in the process of fitting an official stamped RS body accessory kit to my 1996 MK1 Ford Mondeo turbo diesel to try and add value to the vehicle as it is obvious that these are going to be future classics worth quite a bit of wack in years to come. I was just wondering if Ford ever did an 'RS stamped' biro pen (black ink) for the pen holder in the Mondeo's preferably for the MK1 Mondeo itself...? If anyone knows where i can get one from i would highly appreciate it.

And also did Ford ever do RS stamped cups for the cup holders under the arm rest on the MK1 Mondeo's? It sounds silly i know but i'm trying really hard and spending a lot of money to get the car as original and as pristine as possible as i know full well myself it'll be worth 'Cosworth' money in 5 years or so.

Kind regards,

Mr Wowk

As a matter of fact sir, the RS accessory kit was an optional extra for the 2.0L silver top MK1 Mondeo's i think they also made it an optional extra for the 1.6's/1.8's as well.

Good luck.

Not my cup of tea, and I think you will wait a VERY long time for this car to approach anything vaguely like Cosworth money, so own it and enjoy it for what it is and, if it appreciates, just look at that as a bonus.

I honestly had to check what date the OP had originally posted this thread as I wondered if it was April 1st.

This has got to be a piss take, but, just to play along, a MK1 Mondeo will never be worth 'Cosworth Money', even with a YB in it

I wonder how many mk1s are left. I bet most of them have rotted away.

there were "official" rs kitted mk1 mondeos, about 10 i think, so yes, they did do them

however, don't do this thinking "i'll be sitting on a gold mine in 10 years time" do it because it's what you want to do, investing in cars is never an easy thing to do and only those guys you see on the telly ever seem to make any money out of buying cars and selling them on a small scale, why do you think dealrs and used car salesmen have literally hundreds of cars to shift every month

The citrine mondys were nice. The colour was a bit in your face mind. Ford should made a more interesting mondeo than they did.

But not the turbo diesel your doing it to.

A modified diesel Mondeo will never be worth cosworth money, unless it's something very special. (And that doesn't mean adding a pen or cup with a ford badge lol) your dreaming if you think otherwise.

Ps the best way to add value to an old Mondeo is throwing some paving slabs in the boot, the scrappies will give you more money as it's heavier.

I had a citrine yellow mk 1 with the full RS kit and factory fitted (so I was told) twin exhaust.

Thing was falling apart and so bloody low the bumper catched speed humps and was held on with cable ties

I'll go with that....As Iain mac says, you'll have to wait an awful long time for any Mondeo to reach RS levels.

They weren't even official, they were built as a one off by hendy ford dealership, nothing to do with ford. They were just 10 citrine 2 litre Mondeo Si's that hendy's put all the RS options on, lowered, and gave the option of different cams to take it from 136bhp to 150bhp, and then badged them as RSi's, stuck chequered flag stickers on, then charged Ł17250 for. Extremely rare cars these days, even though most people who have an RS kitted citrine MK1 say it's an RSi, when it's actually just a citrine Si with an RS kit, but so were the RSi's to be fair

But even with all that said, being a Mondeo man, I'd love an RSi or an ST200 LTD, my two favorite mondingo's

i think the only mk1 mondeo that may be sought after could be the si 4x4 or ghia 4x4 and even then you would be waiting a long time for a good return.

I think people are being unnecessarily harsh! I agree with the OP, buying an old biro and a mug will definitely improve the overall value.

It might even double it.

i applaud the op on his choice of vehicle to choose and some mk1's are getting classed as classics, there only so many sierras to go round and escorts before scene tax of 5000% gets added on from realms of mr/mrs normals pockets

I think that most rs's are out of the reach of most working family people who have other things to spend their money on

You need a big chunk of disposable income to buy an rs to have sat in he garage to use on rare occasions.

I for one couldn't afford another. So buying another type of ford is a good way of keeping up the ford love
