Default CVH help needed

My brother's first car has just been put on the road this week after being off road for a few year while welding was done etc.

When we took the car out everything seemed fine locally at around 30mph but once we went to around 60 the car started to splutter, flat spot when accelerating and lack of power aswell as it cutting out etc.

The engine is a 1.4cvh carb, it seems fine when you first drive it but after about 10/15 mins the above happens, any ideas?

Could just need a good service and tune up from someone familiar with carbs and a timing light etc.

Check that the nuts that hold the carb to the manifold haven't come loose causing an air leak. Seen this on two 1400 cvh's

Thanks i'll check that aswell, came across a new problem though since fitting an inline filter to the fuel pipe. The car won't run without the choke pulled out even after driving about for 15 minutes or so, once the chock is pushed back in it just stalls.
