Wait to see what happens in a couple years with Peugeot - they're on the 308 now, so the next evolution will logically be called the 309, which of course is a car they did decades ago...

VW revamped the Scirocco too don't forget. As well as the Beetle. And BMW's version of the "Mini" (I use inverted comma's as it's about as small as an MPV, so hardly lives up to the name, and ethos, of the Mini)

That reminds me - I did a Fiat Croma on Friday; when I saw the job I thought it was for the old shit box thing from the 80's/90's - then I noticed it was a 2007 model! Didn't even know they did a modern shit box version - and I work in the motor trade! Guess that shows how popular they are

And the Cougar was originally intended to be a new generation of Probe, but global range identifying had it classed as a Cougar

Been going on a while as has been said with the fiat 500, mini, scirocco, beetle etc.

I guess you capture some of that spirit and people that longed for one or whos parents had one when they were a kid and are now grown up can buy one.

Let's see. It woudln't surprise me if they next went to 309. Peugeot already have 00 names (1007, 1008, 2008, 3008) which are crossover MPV style vehicles (like Toyota has Verso for the MPV versions of existing cars; Yaris Verso, Corolla Verso, and also just the Verso). Pug have moved from 306, to 307, to 308, so it seems natural to move to 309 - I'm just wondering if they'll completely ignore they used to have a car called the 309, or do a throwback to it. VW could have called the Sirocco the Golf Coupe, since that's essentially what it is, but they threwback to the old Scirocco name instead (even though the car has even less in common with the Scirocco of yesteryear as the current Mini does with it's original counterpart!)
