approx £1000 - £3500 at a guess, depending what's gone/what's damaged etc... and if you buy a 2nd hand bottom end for example or all new parts.

Say a complete rebuild, all new components on the original engine.

Your best is to get accurate quotes from reputable places then I reckon, I'm sure they'll be able to give you best/worst case scenario prices.

E.g. Harvey @ SCS, Stu@Motorsport Developments, Martin @ Reyland, etc..

Well, if the rest of the car is all good, and you can get it for a good price considering the hassle of needing a new engine, then surely the job's a goodun' lol.

My range above is pretty wide (and I'm not a tuner), so you may get a pleasant surprise.....

And if negotiating (on the car), try to gauge what else will need replacing, brakes, tyres, pipes, radiator etc... they're all getting on a bit now, and presumably a test drive won't be an option. Good luck if you decide to get it
